In a captivating event held in Orlando, Florida, Madison Marsh, a 22-year-old second lieutenant in the United States Air Force, emerged victorious as the 2024 Miss America. This remarkable achievement comes on the heels of her earlier triumph as Miss Colorado in May 2023, marking her as the first active-duty Air Force officer ever to claim the prestigious national title.
A Stellar Journey
Madison Marsh, hailing from Arkansas, has not only dedicated herself to serving her country but has also pursued academic excellence. Currently enrolled in the Harvard Kennedy School’s public policy program as a master’s student, Marsh epitomizes the perfect blend of intellect and grace.
A Record-Breaking Win
Outshining 50 other contestants representing every state in the U.S. and the District of Columbia, Marsh’s victory is a testament to her multifaceted talents. Ellie Breaux of Texas and Miss Indiana Cydney Bridges secured the first and third runner-up positions, respectively.

Marsh’s list of achievements extends far beyond her pageant successes. As a National Truman Scholar, two-time National Astronaut scholar, and eight-time Dean’s List awardee at the Air Force – her accomplishments are truly exceptional. The Pageant Rounds
The final four rounds of the pageant included a “hot topics” discussion round and a talent performance, among others. Marsh, eloquent and poised, spoke on the pressing issue of “drugs in America,” drawing on her personal experience with her late mother’s battle against pancreatic cancer. For the talent round, she delivered a poignant spoken-word piece centered on the significant achievement of obtaining her pilot’s license at the age of 16.
Military Service and Pageantry
Marsh’s journey is a testament to her ability to seamlessly balance military service with the demands of the pageant world. A Harvard student who graduated from the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) and was commissioned as an Air Force Officer last year, Marsh recognizes the evolving nature of pageants, particularly in women’s fitness.
“Pageants are changing, and one of the ways is in what being physically fit means to women,” Marsh explained. “For me, it’s great because I need to stay physically fit and in the gym for the military, so it already coincides with pageant training.”

From a young age, Marsh harbored a fervent passion for science, nurturing dreams of becoming a pilot and astronaut. Encouraged by her parents, she attended Space Camp at the age of 13, where she had the opportunity to meet astronauts and fighter pilots. At 15, she commenced flying lessons, ultimately earning her pilot’s license and working towards becoming a cadet.
